What it Means to Live: Haiku’s #1-8

You will never be whole.
That is the price for living
Life through other’s eyes.

Endless possibility,
Self-inflicted pain.

“You’d risk all,” She asked.
“For something as frail as love?”
“Willingly,” I said.

Fleeting is joy’s flame.
For the dangers of the dark
Aren’t forgotten long.

Perhaps I would cry
If tears could ignite embers
and set hearts ablaze.

I know that to you
I am as meaningless as
the words on this page.

If we saw ourselves
Through each-other’s eyes, would we
Finally know peace?

Yes, you are afraid.
Embrace your fear; discover
what it means to live.
